A localized checkout is the opposite of translating the page and thinking the job is done. Localizing means adjusting everything the buyer recognizes as normal in their country: the language, the local currency, the payment methods they actually use, the address and document format, and the order of the fields.

Each of these items is a drop-off point. A buyer who sees the price in a currency that isn't theirs has to do the math in their head, and converting mentally is exactly the moment they reconsider the purchase.
